Confronting Fentanyl Addiction

Finding Hope at MedSave Clinic in Columbus, Ohio

Opioid addiction has cast a dark shadow over the United States, impacting countless lives. With opioid-related deaths on the rise, the need for Fentanyl addiction treatment is more pressing than ever. One significant contributor to the escalating opioid deaths is the emergence of potent synthetics like Fentanyl. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the death rate from synthetic opioids (excluding Methadone) surged by over 72 percent from 2014 to 2015.

Understanding Fentanyl's Lethal Potency

Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, is a formidable adversary in the battle against addiction. It is up to 100 times more potent than morphine and up to 50 times more powerful than pure heroin. Even the smallest doses of Fentanyl can be fatal for most people. To combat Fentanyl overdoses, Naloxone comes to the rescue. Naloxone is a medication that temporarily blocks the lethal effects of opioids, including Fentanyl. Due to the extraordinary strength of Fentanyl, larger doses of Naloxone may be required to reverse its effects.

The Fentanyl Crisis in the United States:

Fentanyl has emerged as a leading cause of opioid-related deaths in the United States. Its potency and deadly nature have contributed to the opioid crisis, requiring immediate attention and effective treatment.

What is Fentanyl?

Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, is a potent pain reliever used primarily in surgical settings due to its rapid action. It offers quick pain relief, comfort, and even euphoria to the user. However, its powerful effects come with significant risks, especially when used outside of a controlled medical environment. Today, Fentanyl has become a major contributor to the opioid crisis, as it is increasingly available both medically and through illegal manufacturing. Its high potency and efficient transdermal bioavailability make it challenging to control. In response to the growing problem, MedSave Clinic has recognized the importance of addressing Fentanyl addiction through a comprehensive treatment process.

The MedSave Clinic Fentanyl Addiction Treatment Process

MedSave Clinic addiction treatment recognizes that each individual is unique and that treatment must be tailored to address their specific needs. A vital aspect of this process is a thorough medical assessment to determine the appropriate medications for treatment. Medications are introduced in the early stages of treatment, initially to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. These medications can also help manage cravings and establish long-term sobriety. Opioid agonists like Naltrexone and Vivitrol may be used to block the effects of opioids, promoting recovery.
Additionally, medications may be employed to address co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression, which often play a crucial role in long-term sobriety. Managing these co-occurring issues is a fundamental part of the recovery journey.

A Holistic Approach to Recovery
Combining MAT with Behavioral Therapies at MedSave Clinic

At MedSave Clinic, we understand that addiction is a complex challenge, and a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment is not effective. That’s why we employ a medical approach in conjunction with various behavioral health therapies. Every client receives a comprehensive assessment and a personalized treatment program, ensuring the best possible path to long-term recovery. For those who qualify, we offer Suboxone treatment and other Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) tools. These medications help reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms, making clients more receptive to traditional cognitive behavioral therapies. While MAT medications do not cure addiction, they play a crucial role in making recovery achievable and teachable.

MedSave Clinic Fentanyl Rehab - Providing Care at Every Level

We recognize that addiction comes in various forms, from mild to severe. Some individuals may be high-functioning addicts leading somewhat normal lives, while others struggle to maintain their daily routines due to the devastating impact of addiction. Both groups need assistance, but the level of care they require may differ. At MedSave Clinic, we pay attention to the unique needs of each client, ensuring that their addiction treatment experience is individualized and effective.

Our addiction care program offers three levels of care

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

Clients in the IOP program live in our Florida sober living facilities and attend treatment three times a week. They have the flexibility to work or go to school with minimal supervision.

Outpatient (OP)

In the OP program, clients live independently and continue their recovery journey through individual therapy appointments, which can be conducted in person or via telehealth.
