At Medsave Addiction Treatment Center, recovery is personal — and so are your choices. While Medsave does not provide or manage housing, we understand that some clients may want information about sober living options as part of their recovery journey.
At the client’s request, our team can share information about independent sober living and recovery housing options located throughout the Columbus area. Choosing housing is always the client’s decision, and living in sober housing is NOT a requirement to receive treatment at Medsave. Whether you live at home, with family, or in housing you select independently, our focus remains the same: providing high-quality, compassionate clinical care that supports your recovery goals.
Sober living refers to a lifestyle characterized by abstinence from the use of alcohol and illicit substances. It often involves individuals who have completed a formal addiction treatment program and are transitioning back into daily life while maintaining their commitment to sobriety. Sober living environments, also known as halfway houses or transitional housing, provide a supportive and structured setting for individuals in recovery.
The drug and alcohol-free environment are obvious benefits of sober living. However, a lesser known benefit relates to teammates and camaraderie. Studies have shown that those who have a strong social support system are more be likely to be successful in recovery long term. At the same time, clients have a built-in social network surrounding them. Your roommates are also in recovery and you have the opportunity to support them and help each other. Whether it’s a difficult day or one to cheer on a milestone, your sober living roommates will provide you with a ton of support. In fact, you are supported by people who have the same EXACT goals as you do! Those who are further along in recovery typically support newbies.
